The City Of Wertheim
If you want to get more information, please visit the pages of the city of Wertheim or our photo page with various photos of the historic and romantic old town.
The former capital of the counts of Wertheim, situated at the point where the river Tauber flows into the river Main, with its medieval lanes, frame houses and awe-inspiring castle has an atmosphere of its own and – unlike other towns – has kept its character of a small Franconian town.
The Grafschaftsmuseum and the unique Glass Museum, as well as numerous monuments of art and old buildings are worth a visit, too. The late gothic Kilian’s Chapel is said to be one of the most beautiful gothic chapels in Germany.
Enjoy the impressing view from the old castle of Wertheim – like the counts of Wertheim in former times – to the foothills of Spessart and Odenwald and the rivers Tauber and Main. Following the river Tauber a few kilometres upstream you will find the Cistercian monastery of Bronnbach.
